The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest

This is the final film based upon the Millenium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson, following on directly from the previous one. Lisbeth is in hospital, Mikael is trying to save her from prison and her fathers helpers are all out to send her away, one way or another. And by the end of the film, the entire trilogy is nicely tucked away.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest is something of a niche film, despite the books now dominating the sales charts. Perhaps many people are waiting for the American remake of the first film that is currently in production.

Either way, this film definitely feels more like a conclusion than a film in its own rights, dealing with wrapping up all of the loose ends that have been accrued so far. That’s not to diminish it however. There is still a lot worth watching for here, and the lead actors are once again fantastic.

I implore anyone thinking of watching these films to watch them before they see the Americanised versions, if only to hear them in their native language.

My rating: 8/10
