Basically an Update

I’ve been neglecting this blog for a while now, I know. With A Levels, coursework and personal projects on the go, not to mention my writing at SnakeDust I’ve had very little time to really post some good articles. Don’t worry though, I’m planning to write a few introductory/tutorial guides to REALbasic, more on that in a moment though. Firstly a few thoughts on recent news and events.

Splinter Cell: Double Agent is coming out soon and though I won’t buy it on launch I will hopefully have it within a month and believe me, I’ll play that thing through and through before the day is out. And, as usual I’ll write a nice big review on here.

In other gaming news Valve is implementing their weapons pricing system and EA is gearing up to release Battlefield 2142. Both of which I feel will flop. I went back to the original CS 1.6 a few months ago, annoyed with the direction CS:S was going and now it looks like I made the right decision. Source is becoming too much like every other game out there while losing its competitive edge. Sure, the graphics are nice but it’s always been the gameplay that made CS what is was. And speaking of graphics my latest game DEFCON is simply brilliant. Review coming really soon I promise. BF2142 meanwhile just gets worse and worse. Not content with releasing a buggy as hell game that just got worse, EA now feels they have to abandon ship and wreak havoc with another game. Wankers.

Outside of games I’ve been attending 18th birthday parties for the past few weeks, so my liver isn’t doing me any favours right now and I’ve still got more to come. Don’t expect many pictures though, it’s pretty hard to hold a camera in one hand a drink in the other when you’re body is 80% alcohol.

On the technical front I’ve been whizzing along. Messing around in Symphony I’ve managed to learn a hell of a lot, but it still feels like I’m just skimming the surface. I’ve started development of DIGi27v3 using Symphony and it’s going really well so far. Expect more, both updates on the project and tutorials.

REALbasic. I got a copy of this a few months back, played with it for five minutes and wrote it off as being too much like the crappy Visual Basic Microsoft kicks out. Then last week I got bored and decided to port my BioRhythm system from PHP to basic. After re-writing all the PHP only functions and spending 3 hours just trying to draw a line (in the code, not WYSIWYG view) I finished it and ended up with this. Updates are still streaming out for it with improvements and bug fixing a plenty. Expect more info on that and REALbasic soon. (It feels like all I’m going to be doing is writing tutorials and reviews lol).

So, I hope you can all stay tuned and await my updates shortly!
