Before this year I had never been to a live gig. Seems odd now, but I’d never had cause to go. With Download that all changed and I was hungry to hear more. So in the past 4 weeks I’ve been to 3 different gigs and heard 4 artists play.

Avenged Sevenfold / Stone Sour
I’ve listened to both of these bands for a long while and racked up a fair play count on Last.fm, so it was good to finally see them play a joint gig at the NIA. Both played a really good setlist with some old and new tracks and the atmosphere was immense.

Goo Goo Dolls
A more mellow gig at the new Academy (yes I know it moved ages ago but I hadn’t yet been), the Goo Goo Dolls were great. While the lead singer can’t quite hit the high notes anymore it was a very enjoyable night out.

Ludovici Einaudi
As may be evident from my Last.fm page, I have a pretty varied taste in music. One artist that really caught my attention at the start of the year was Ludovici Einaudi, a contemporary piano player. Unfortunately I just missed his last concert at Symphony Hall so I immediately booked tickets with @sukhidehal when I heard he was playing Town Hall. Needless to say the concert was amazing, adding a whole new dimension hearing him play live.

So there you have it, the music I’ve heard so far. Hopefully next year with Download and more I can improve upon this.
