Cop-Out

“No. No. Huh Huh. No. No! No! No! Hell No! NO! NO! I refuse to… No! No!”

In some films that might have been funny, heck people might even chuckle. In the trailers it made some smile. As part of the final film, it just made me want to leave the theatre sooner. Cop-out is, without a shadow of a doubt, utter rubbish.

I like buddy cop films. They can be some of the best examples of comedy coming out of America (and let’s face it, it’s not like they’ve got much in the way of comedy repertoire). Unfortunately Cop-out doesn’t even work on a slapstick, oh-my-god-it’s-so-awful-it’s-funny level.

Bruce Willis acts like a man desperate for a paycheque, and Tracy Morgan… That man should be barred from the big screen ever again. Five minutes in, watching the worst interview scene ever, is more than enough to justify banishing the man from Hollywood. He doesn’t act, he shakes his head while making voices. That’s it. It’s terrible and even more painful to watch.

If there was one thing to take away from this film it’s that Bruce Willis is in need of a new action franchise now more than ever. If you want to watch an enjoyably original cop comedy, go and see Bad Lieutenant, also out this week. Just avoid Cop-out like the plague.
