Get Him To The Greek

It’s not often a good comedy comes out of America. Just look at the atrocity that was Cop Out to see the average level of American humour, or lack thereof. The last decent film was The Hangover, and it looks like Get Him To The Greek is definitely closer to that than the usual run-of-the-mill garbage.

The premise is simple; under-appreciated record exec has to get washed-out rockstar to the Greek theatre for a live comeback show in three days, hilarity ensues. While some of the jokes are crude or overly simplistic to say the least, there’s enough body to make up for it. Sentimental get-togethers never feel drawn out and the overall cast is well suited.

In fact, the only downside to this film is that the music isn’t available on CD afterwards. For a standard comedy it’s surprisingly enjoyable, and one worth seeing if you want a good laugh. Definitely one to get on DVD when it comes out later in the year.

My rating: 7/10
