Toy Story 3

Considering the hype and protracted lifecycle of Toy Story 3, this review will be fairly short and succinct. The latest outing for Andy’s toys sees them face the prospect of being boxed up and passed on, and the emotional onslaught that comes with growing up and remembering times past.

Let it be said that Pixar have yet to put a foot wrong, however Toy Story 3 comes close to relying on the familiar rather than breaking new ground. The toys are split up, the toys go through phases of falling out, the toys want to get back to Andy, repeat ad nauseum. And for all the talk of the emotional ending eliciting tears from even the most grown of men, Up easily beats it by miles.

Toy Story 3 is a well made and enjoyable film. But it lacks the originality of the first, the toys have truly lost their shine and you can see why Andy was going to put them in the attic. Worth seeing, but a pale shadow to the work Pixar is now putting out.

My rating: 6/10
