Devil

Perhaps the most redeeming quality of this thriller/modern-day-fear is the fact that while Shyamalan may have helped pen the script he had little to do with it’s actual production. Instead, Devil opens as your fairly typical horror flick and stays that way until the end.

The premise is very simple; a group of individuals, all with unknown intentions and backgrounds, get on a lift which summarily breaks down mid-transit. When one of the passengers dies, all hell breaks loose. Quite literally.

Some of the decisions made by the characters are questionable, as is the general inability for outside help to formulate even the most rudimentary of plans beside “drilling through a wall”. But, for the most part, Devil manages to keep you entertained during it’s relatively short 80 minute run time.
